The Dynamic Duo’s Podcasting Puzzles

Welcome to the behind-the-scenes blog of the most hilariously uncoordinated podcasting journey you’ll ever hear about!

Meet the stars of our show: me, the older sister with a penchant for bossiness and a belief that my way is the highway, and Shelby, my baby sister, the queen of procrastination and the ultimate chill pill. Together, we’re like two peas in a pod—except when it comes to work ethic, time management, and organization.

Take One… and Two… and Oops!

Our podcasting saga began with grand dreams and… well, not much else. We had the outgoing personalities to charm an audience but none of the technical know-how. Picture this: two days in a row, we recorded what we thought would be the next viral podcast episode. And two days in a row, the first half of our footage pulled a Houdini on us. Vanished!

Trusting the Process (and a Higher Power)

Neither of us knows our way around audio equipment or cameras. I mean, who knew there were so many buttons, and what on Earth is a gain control? But we’re not deterred. We have faith that if this podcast is meant to be, we’ll find our way—preferably before we run out of storage space from all the bloopers. Jesus, just take the wheel...

Opposites Attract (and Drive Each Other Nuts)

Here’s the thing: we’re both super outgoing. We can talk your ear off about anything and everything. But when it comes to getting things done, we’re as different as night and day. I’ve got my color-coded planners and alarms set five minutes apart, while Shelby… well, let’s just say her organizational system is more ‘abstract art’ than ‘Excel spreadsheet.’

The Bossy Sister and the Zen Master

I admit it; I’m bossy. I’ve got a plan, a backup plan, and a backup for the backup plan. Shelby, on the other hand, is the embodiment of “keep calm and carry on.” When I’m in full-on crisis mode, convinced our podcasting empire that hasn’t even started is crumbling, she’s there to remind me to take a breath—usually while she’s lounging on the couch, getting interior design inspo from the tv show she is half watching on HGTV and scrolling Pinterest. (I won't complain too much, she has a great eye & it does help)

Building a Brand on Brutal Honesty

So, how will we ever build a brand together when we’re complete opposites? Simple: because we love each other. We have a blast every time we hit record (even if half the footage decides to play hide-and-seek), every time we sit with clients and discuss designs, meet with vendors to plan what’s coming up, or any time we dream and brainstorm about what we want this “brand” to be. We’re brutally honest with each other, which means when I say “move it,” and Shelby says “chill out,” we somehow meet in the middle.

Stay tuned for our next episode, where we might just figure out which microphone isn’t just for show. Spoiler alert: it’s probably going to be me the next time that really messes things up, but this one is on the Chaos Coordinator who doesn’t manage my chaos well at this point but adds to my anxiety.

What are little sisters for???

Until then, keep laughing and podcasting... or trying to folks!
